Kolkata Knight Riders had to replace Angkrish Raghuvanshi with Ramandeep Singh as a concussion substitute during their recent IPL match against Mumbai Indians. The substitution occurred after Raghuvanshi injured his hand in a field collision at Eden Gardens during the 11th over of the Mumbai Indians’ innings. This incident led to concerns for KKR, who needed wins to stay in the playoff race.
Initially, Tejasvi Singh took over as the substitute wicketkeeper, but later, Ramandeep was officially named as the concussion replacement during the run chase. Raghuvanshi’s injury is significant as he has been a key player for KKR this season, scoring 422 runs in 12 innings at an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of 146.52.
Ramandeep, who replaced Raghuvanshi, has struggled for consistency this season, scoring only 82 runs in six innings before losing his spot in the XI. As the tournament progresses, KKR hopes that Raghuvanshi’s injury is not severe enough to keep him out for long, given his crucial role in the team’s performance.
