He urged West Bengal to acknowledge and honor individuals like Gopal Mukherjee who played crucial roles in safeguarding the community. The decision to rename the street was shared by Adhikari along with a copy of the KMC notice.
BJP leader Keya Ghosh also supported the renaming of Suhrawardy Avenue to Gopal Mukherjee Road. Ghosh emphasized the contrasting legacies of Suhrawardy and Mukherjee, praising the latter for his bravery and defense of Hindu lives during critical events. The move to rename the street has garnered attention following the popularity of the film “The Bengal Files.”
Gopal Mukherjee, popularly known as Gopal Patha, gained recognition for his actions during the 1946 violence in Kolkata.
