Kolkata Police apprehended five individuals from various states for operating a deceptive scheme that pretended to assist in obtaining loans through the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. The arrests stemmed from a raid conducted by officers from the Purba Jadavpur police station. The accused were taken into custody from a residential complex in Nitai Nagar on the outskirts of Kolkata.
The arrested persons, namely Amit Khan, Rathin Siddi, Mohammad Nazimuddin Siddiqui, Vishal Shinde, and Madhusudan HR, hail from Karnataka and Bihar. They were all residing within the jurisdiction of the Purba Jadavpur police station. Law enforcement officials confiscated eight smartphones and six keypad phones from the suspects.
The accused are scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, where the police will request their custody for further inquiries. The fraud involved duping small business proprietors with promises of facilitating loans under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. A formal complaint was lodged at the Purba Jadavpur police station, leading to the initial arrests and subsequent identification of additional suspects.
Following the interrogation of the previously apprehended individuals, a targeted operation was launched, resulting in the arrest of the five culprits from a room in Nitai Nagar. The arrested individuals face charges under the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are focused on unraveling the entire extent of the fraud and identifying any other accomplices once custody is granted.
