Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards booth jamming, vote rigging, or booth capturing during the upcoming Assembly elections in the city. This directive followed his inspection visit to Bhangar Police Station on the outskirts of Kolkata.
In alignment with Election Commission guidelines, senior police officials conducted visits to various police stations across the state on Sunday. Ajay Nand, the Kolkata Police Commissioner, stressed the importance of strict adherence to these directives during a meeting with police personnel. He also warned against any form of complaints related to election malpractices.
Assuring a peaceful election process, Ajay Nand stated that Kolkata Police is fully prepared with ongoing checkpoints, search operations, and patrolling in collaboration with Central forces. Additional Central forces are expected before the polls, as mentioned by Nand during a press conference.
To evaluate police readiness in the region, DIG of Presidency Range Kankar Prasad Barui inspected three police stations in the southern suburbs, including Narendrapur, Sonarpur, and Baruipur. These stations, located near Kolkata, cover rural polling booths, with officials briefed on security measures being implemented.
