Allegations have been made by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao regarding a Congress-BJP nexus over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Rao criticized the Congress government in Telangana for not utilizing Godavari waters through the project, leading to wastage of significant water resources. He emphasized that the government’s actions were harming the interests of farmers in Telangana.
Rama Rao, also known as KTR, expressed concerns about the Congress government’s decisions impacting agricultural activities in the region. He highlighted the importance of resuming water lifting through the Kaleshwaram Project to address irrigation needs promptly. Rao warned of potential protests by BRS if the government failed to take necessary actions to support farmers in the state.
The BRS leader accused the Congress government of neglecting the Mid Manair Reservoir’s water levels, attributing the current situation to deliberate governmental inaction. Rao urged immediate measures to address water shortages in various areas of Telangana, emphasizing the critical role of water management during drought periods. He criticized the government for disregarding expert recommendations and focusing on personal attacks instead of prioritizing farmers’ welfare.
Refuting claims by the Chief Minister regarding the absence of flood flow in the Godavari, KTR highlighted the significant water flow downstream and criticized the government for not utilizing available resources effectively. Rao pointed out missed opportunities to harness water resources efficiently, citing technical possibilities that could benefit farmers in the region. He accused the government of prioritizing political motives over the well-being of Telangana’s agricultural sector.
