Actor-filmmaker Kunal Kemmu discussed whether being part of Indian cinema’s renowned family, particularly as Sharmila Tagore’s son-in-law, ever burdened him. In an interview, Kunal expressed that he has always prioritized his relationship with his art over any familial expectations. He emphasized that his focus has been on personal growth as an artist, rather than on external pressures.
Kunal highlighted that his dedication to his craft has been driven by his passion for acting and filmmaking, rather than by his marital connections to a prestigious family. He admitted that he has never let the idea of being Sharmila Tagore’s son-in-law affect his artistic journey. Kunal emphasized that his primary concern has always been nurturing his artistic talents.
Married to actress Soha Ali Khan, Kunal is the son-in-law of Sharmila Tagore and the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. The couple, who got married in 2015 after a long courtship, welcomed their daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, in 2017. Kunal, who started his career as a child actor, has made a mark in the industry with notable performances in various films such as ‘Kalyug’, ‘Golmaal 3’, ‘Malang’, and ‘Lootcase’.
In 2024, Kunal debuted as a director with the well-received comedy-drama ‘Madgaon Express’, earning acclaim for his storytelling and direction. He has now expanded his horizons by hosting the reality show ‘Alliance’.
