The severity of the injuries and the exact locations of the two sites have not been disclosed by the Fire Force. They stated that firefighting operations are ongoing, with updates to follow, as reported by Xinhua news agency. The incident occurred shortly after Kuwait reported intercepting “hostile” missiles and drones, leading to disruptions at Kuwait International Airport and flight rescheduling by Kuwait Airways.
Following the attacks, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army clarified that explosions heard were due to air defense systems intercepting hostile targets. The military continues to respond to the attacks, urging the public to adhere to safety instructions. Warning sirens were activated across Kuwait in response to the security situation, marking the fourth such instance.
Additionally, Kuwait Airways adjusted flight schedules due to the temporary suspension of airport operations caused by ongoing missile and drone attacks. The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy reported a strike on a power generation and water desalination plant, resulting in a fire. To ensure grid stability, several generating units were shut down as a precaution, with emergency response and repair operations in progress.
The ministry advised the public to conserve electricity, especially during peak hours, while tensions remain high in the region despite a recent US-Iran memorandum of understanding. The agreement, signed in mid-June, aimed to initiate negotiations within a 60-day period for a final resolution.
