A significant demolition operation took place in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, where authorities utilized bulldozers and heavy machinery to dismantle alleged illegal constructions in Mubarakpur Band village under the Asmoli police station area. Senior officials, including District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya and Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar Bishnoi, oversaw the operation with a substantial police presence and Rapid Response Force personnel to ensure law and order.
The demolition was prompted by a complaint lodged by the village head about unauthorized structures nearly three months ago. Following a 30-day appeal period, as locals failed to self-demolish the constructions as promised, the administration intervened. During the operation, rooms of a madrasa and several adjacent shops were demolished.
While the mosque structure was initially left untouched, preparations were made to take further action. Subsequently, two hydraulic machines were used to bring down a 35-40-foot-high minaret of the mosque, a process that lasted approximately three hours. Prior to the demolition, nearby residences were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Tension briefly rose during the shop demolitions when iron rods made contact with overhead electricity wires, causing sparks. The operation paused immediately to prevent any accidents. Naib Tehsildar Arvind Kumar coordinated with the electricity department to temporarily cut off power supply, averting a potential mishap.
Naib Tehsildar Bablu Kumar confirmed that the removal of madrasa rooms and shops is ongoing, with further steps regarding the mosque to follow protocol. The administration clarified that this action is part of an ongoing anti-encroachment campaign to clear government land, while affected residents are pursuing compensation and assistance.
