A late-night police encounter in Bihar’s Siwan caused panic as two criminals on a motorcycle exchanged gunfire with the police near Laheji village. The police retaliated, shooting both suspects in the legs and apprehending them. The arrested individuals, Rohit Kumar Sharma (28) and Rohit Kumar Kushwaha alias Rishu (19), were involved in recent high-profile robbery cases at jewelry stores.
The police operation, based on specific intelligence, led to the arrest of the suspects who attempted to flee towards fields after abandoning their motorcycle. Despite being injured, the criminals were taken into custody and received medical treatment. Rohit Sharma, identified as an inter-state robber, had criminal connections spanning from Bihar to Hyderabad, and both suspects were linked to a robbery case in Basantpur market.
The arrested individuals were initially treated at Sadar Hospital in Siwan but were later transferred to Patna for advanced medical care due to their critical condition. This police action is seen as a significant breakthrough in combating organized crime in the region, although concerns about safety and law enforcement persist among residents.
