Late playback singer Suman Kalyanpur once addressed the constant comparisons of her superhit songs to those of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. In an old interview with DD News, she candidly discussed how listeners often confused her songs with Lata Mangeshkar’s due to the similarity in their voices.
When questioned about the impact of being compared to the late Nightingale of India, Kalyanpur responded with humility, mentioning that people had always assumed her songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar since childhood. She humorously attributed the resemblance to possibly sharing vocal blessings with Lata Mangeshkar from God.
Kalyanpur also shared that she had a warm relationship with Lata Mangeshkar, highlighting their good rapport. Throughout her extensive career in Hindi cinema, Suman Kalyanpur established herself as a beloved playback singer with hits like ‘Na Na Karte Pyar Tumhi Se Kar Baithe’ and ‘Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche’.
