Leaders from the INDIA bloc, including the Congress and the RJD, have criticized Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav following allegations of his family’s involvement in land purchases in Ujjain. RJD MP Manoj Jha expressed concern over the accusations, questioning the integrity of the Chief Minister appointed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He highlighted similarities with past controversies, such as the donation theft at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir.
In response to accusations against CM Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav suggested a conspiracy by the BJP to tarnish the Chief Minister’s reputation. He hinted at internal political motives behind the allegations, linking them to a larger plan to remove Chief Ministers in multiple states. Congress President Jitu Patwari acknowledged the seriousness of the corruption allegations but refrained from labeling them as a conspiracy.
Congress leader Pawan Khera emphasized longstanding concerns raised by the party’s local leaders regarding CM Yadav’s alleged involvement in land acquisitions. Khera pointed out a pattern of land allotments to the Chief Minister’s family or associated companies, particularly in areas earmarked for development projects. Despite the opposition’s claims, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo defended CM Yadav, dismissing the allegations as baseless and attributing them to political frustration.
Deo urged the accusers to provide concrete evidence if they have genuine concerns, emphasizing that all dealings involving the Chief Minister and his family have been lawful. He criticized the opposition, particularly the Congress, for resorting to unfounded accusations due to their political setbacks in various states. The BJP maintains that the allegations lack substance and are part of a broader political strategy.
