The CPI-M-led Left Front in Tripura accused the BJP and its allies of neglecting the development of tribal areas. They criticized the lack of meaningful initiatives for the welfare of tribals, who make up almost one-third of the state’s population. The Left Front leaders highlighted issues of corruption and mismanagement of government funds in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

The Left Front Convener, Manik Dey, blamed the BJP, Tipra Motha Party (TMP), and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) for the backwardness of tribal regions and the failure to address poverty among indigenous communities. Dey mentioned extreme poverty leading to distressing situations like families being forced to sell their children and deaths due to hunger in TTAADC areas. He emphasized the historical electoral dominance of Left parties in the TTAADC, except for a few instances.

Jitendra Chaudhury, the CPI (M) state Secretary, clarified that there would be no alliance with the Congress in the upcoming TTAADC elections. He pointed out the accusations between the BJP and the Tipra Motha Party, despite being allies. The Left leaders announced candidate nominations for the TTAADC elections, with the CPI (M) contesting the majority of seats and introducing new faces for about 75% of the candidates.

Amid preparations for the TTAADC polls, various political parties, including the BJP, its allies, and opposition parties like the CPI(M) and Congress, are actively engaging with tribal voters to secure support. The TTAADC elections, crucial for Tripura due to its significant tribal population, are anticipated to take place in April.
