Members of the legal community are urging various bar associations and councils to endorse the appointment of Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia to the Supreme Court. They emphasize his qualifications, experience, and integrity, advocating for his elevation based on merit and competence rather than seniority alone.

Justice Sandhawalia, known for his intellectual depth and commitment to constitutional principles, has had a distinguished career in the judiciary. With a background spanning various legal matters, he was appointed as a permanent judge in 2014 after serving as an Additional Judge since 2011.

His tenure as Acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court was marked by initiatives to enhance court administration and case management. Recognized for his diligence and fairness, he is seen as a respected figure by both the legal community and the judiciary, ensuring efficient and timely judicial processes.

Advocates supporting his elevation highlight his family’s legacy in the judiciary and the need for diverse representation in the Supreme Court. They stress that elevating Justice Sandhawalia would not only uphold meritocracy but also promote diversity within the higher judiciary, enhancing the court’s strength and integrity.
