A leopard causing fear in Chakla Bahiyar village, Bihar, was put down by villagers after attacking livestock and residents. The animal had strayed into the village, killing two calves and a goat, and injuring three people. Villagers confronted and killed the leopard after it was sighted in the fields, sparking chaos in the area.
Village head Shanti Devi mentioned that authorities were informed about the leopard’s presence and attacks, leading to the intervention of the administration and Forest Department. Officials arrived at the scene, took control of the leopard’s body, and provided medical care to the injured villagers. An investigation has been initiated to determine how the leopard entered the populated area and if there are further wildlife movements in the vicinity.
Forest Department officials suspect the leopard ventured into human settlements due to extreme heat and humidity, seeking water and food. The leopard’s carcass will undergo a post-mortem examination by a team of veterinary doctors to ascertain the cause of death.
