LG Display’s CEO, Jeong Chul-dong, has pledged to enhance the price competitiveness of the company’s premium OLED panels to counter China’s advancements in the LCD sector. Speaking at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Jeong acknowledged Chinese firms’ progress in resolution and cost efficiency for LCD products, intensifying competition.

Despite recognizing the strides made by Chinese companies, Jeong emphasized OLED’s technological superiority over LCD panels. LG Display plans to reduce costs for OLED products to offer cost-effective solutions to customers, facilitating the availability of premium products amidst the growing popularity of budget-friendly LCD alternatives.

Jeong highlighted the company’s strategy to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technology for operational enhancements, aiming for consistent profitability. LG Display reported a positive operating profit for the January-September period, marking a potential annual turnaround since 2021, with a focus on sustainable profitability and technological advancement.

The CEO also expressed intentions to venture into the humanoid robot industry, drawing from the company’s expertise in automotive displays. LG Display aims to innovate in line with the evolving display sector, leveraging existing technologies like P-OLED for humanoid robot applications, emphasizing reliability and curved design capabilities.
