The Lok Sabha faced its second adjournment on Tuesday until 2 p.m. due to continuous disruptions caused by Opposition members during the Monsoon Session. Despite repeated calls for order by Chairperson Sandhya Ray, slogans from the Opposition persisted, leading to the adjournment. Earlier in the day, Speaker Om Birla had adjourned the House till noon following disruptions.
Appeals to allow the House to function went unheeded as Opposition members continued their protests, resulting in another halt in proceedings. Leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Sule, and other Opposition figures, met to strategize for the day’s proceedings. Later, the Lok Sabha was set to discuss the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026.
The disruptions mirrored scenes from the previous day’s Monsoon Session opening, where adjournments were frequent due to protests by Opposition parties. Issues such as examination paper leaks and the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest at Jantar Mantar were among the topics demanding discussion, causing interruptions in parliamentary business.
