The Lok Sabha faced disruptions on Tuesday, leading to its adjournment for the day due to continuous sloganeering by the Opposition. Despite repeated requests from the Chair to maintain decorum, the protests persisted, resulting in the adjournment. The House is scheduled to reconvene at 11 a.m. on Wednesday for further proceedings.
Earlier in the day, Speaker Om Birla had adjourned the House till noon as disruptions hampered normal functioning. He urged members to cooperate and allow the House to function smoothly. However, the Opposition’s protests and slogans disrupted proceedings, leading to the initial adjournment.
During the reconvened session at noon, the disruptions continued as Opposition members persisted with their protests, causing further chaos. Despite efforts to restore order and appeals from the Chair, the House had to be adjourned again due to the ongoing disturbances.
The disruptions in Parliament echo the scenes from the previous day when both Houses faced repeated adjournments at the start of the Monsoon Session. Opposition parties’ protests on various issues, including exam paper leaks and a protest at Jantar Mantar, led to interruptions in parliamentary business.
