The Lok Sabha faced a second adjournment within six minutes of reconvening as the Opposition disrupted proceedings, demanding a proper discussion on the Union Budget. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju urged Congress MPs to allow the discussion to proceed, emphasizing the importance of sharing viewpoints on the budget. Despite efforts to maintain decorum, the Opposition persisted with slogans, leading to the House being adjourned until 2 p.m.
Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha adjourned after just one minute of proceedings due to ongoing disruptions by Opposition MPs. Their consistent demand for Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition, to speak in the House has been a recurring issue. While Gandhi was granted permission to address the budget, he insisted on discussing an “unpublished book” by former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane (Retd.).
The Speaker’s refusal to allow mention of the book during the Motion of Thanks for the President’s Address last week had led to an incomplete speech by Gandhi. The persistent disruptions and refusal to engage in substantive discussions have hindered the smooth functioning of the Lok Sabha.
