The Lok Sabha reconvened with heavy Opposition sloganeering during the Question Hour. Despite disruptions, the proceedings continued, with the focus shifting to the Union Budget discussions. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is expected to address the House later in the day.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, responding during the Question Hour, highlighted the allocation of funds for the Green Corridor projects by the Modi government. Phase-1 has been allocated Rs 10,000 crore, while Phase-2 received around Rs 12,000 crore. The projects aim at grid integration and power evacuation of renewable energy in several states.
Amidst the chaos, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has chosen to stay away from House proceedings until a decision is made on the motion for his removal. The issue is likely to be addressed on March 9, the beginning of the second part of the Budget Session. The ongoing Budget Session, which started on January 28, is scheduled to conclude on April 2, with a recess planned from February 13 to March 9 for Standing Committees’ review of ministry grants.
