Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin expressed his approval of several alliance partners backing the Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to establish the next government. Despite the fractured public mandate from the recent Assembly election, Stalin emphasized that the DMK would operate as a constructive Opposition in the state. He acknowledged the support received by the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance across Tamil Nadu, even though they fell short of the majority needed to retain power.
Stalin, addressing party cadres and the people of Tamil Nadu, highlighted the importance of ensuring political stability post-election. He mentioned that the DMK, in the absence of a clear majority, would not impede the formation of a new government and would fulfill its role as a responsible Opposition in the state Assembly. Following a meeting with newly elected MLAs, Stalin was authorized to make decisions in consultation with senior DMK leaders and alliance partners.
The former Chief Minister commended the decision of the DMK-led alliance parties to support the TVK, while maintaining their alliance based on shared ideology and policy principles. Stalin expressed gratitude to various leaders for their support during a challenging period, urging the incoming government to continue welfare schemes for the benefit of different segments of society. He concluded by extending his best wishes to the prospective TVK government in Tamil Nadu.
