Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, the 16-year-old sensation, is set to make a comeback as a wild card entry at the Mumbai Open WTA 125K Series to be held at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) from February 2-8. Last season, Maaya had a remarkable performance at the tournament, defeating higher-ranked players and reaching the main draw semifinals before being eliminated by the eventual champion.
In her upcoming appearance at the Mumbai Open, Maaya will face Thailand’s fifth-seeded Lanlana Tararudee in the opening round. Reflecting on her success at the 2025 edition of the tournament, Maaya expressed her satisfaction with the experience gained from competing against top players and participating in back-to-back tournaments.
Despite the high expectations following her previous achievements, Maaya remains unfazed and views the opportunity to represent her country as a privilege. She emphasizes focusing on her own game rather than being concerned about her opponents, aiming to enhance her skills and engage in intense matches to advance her career.
Acknowledging the support received from the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA), Maaya credits the organization for playing a significant role in her journey at the senior level. She expresses gratitude towards the association and its officials for their continuous backing and the opportunity to participate in the prestigious Mumbai Open event.
