Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar still feels humbled by the enduring impact of his 2007 film “Traffic Signal,” nearly two decades after its release. The movie, which recently marked its anniversary, continues to highlight the untold stories of marginalized individuals in society. Bhandarkar expressed gratitude to the cast and crew for their dedicated efforts in bringing the socially relevant theme to life.
Co-written and co-produced by Bhandarkar, “Traffic Signal” features actors like Kunal Khemmu, Neetu Chandra, Ranvir Shorey, and Konkona Sen Sharma in key roles. The film, which won a National Award, revolves around Silsila, the traffic signal manager, who collects fees from squatters and vendors. Bhandarkar is now working on “The Wives,” a project that aims to uncover the hidden lives of women in Bollywood.
