Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit, known for her recent film “Maa Behen,” has spoken out against the unequal treatment women face in romantic matters, highlighting the prevailing patriarchal attitudes in society. She pointed out the disparity where men are praised for their romantic choices while women are unfairly judged for the same actions. Dixit emphasized the normalization of these biases, attributing them to the patriarchal structure of society.

In her discussion, the 59-year-old actress mentioned that “Maa Behen” challenges these societal norms by portraying flawed and relatable characters who defy the traditional rules imposed by society. She expressed her delight in breaking these conventions through the film, which features characters that are depicted as realistic, relatable, and in a state of confusion, deviating from the societal expectations.

Directed by Suresh Triveni, “Maa Behen” is a black comedy thriller starring Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Dharna Durga, and Ravi Kishan, alongside Geetanjali Kulkarni, Arunoday Singh, and Shardul Bhardwaj. The movie revolves around Rekha, a mother faced with unexpected challenges when a dead body appears in her kitchen, leading her and her daughters, Jaya and Sushma, to navigate through a web of lies to protect their secrets from prying neighbors. The film is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

Madhuri Dixit’s recent projects also include “Mrs. Deshpande,” directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, where she portrays a serial killer, showcasing her versatility as an actress in diverse roles.
