The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has given the green light to nine significant Bills during a meeting near Bhopal, setting the stage for a pivotal monsoon session starting on July 20. These decisions cover a wide legislative spectrum, including civil law, education, industry, labor, and public welfare. Notably, the “Madhya Pradesh Uniform Civil Code Bill, 2026” stands out as it introduces a unified framework governing various aspects like marriage, divorce, adoption, and inheritance across religions.
The Cabinet’s move places Madhya Pradesh among the select states advancing comprehensive civil reforms. Additionally, the “Private Universities (Establishment and Operation) Amendment Bill, 2026” is equally crucial. This Bill relaxes stringent land requirements, allowing universities to be set up within or near city limits, promoting modern curricula in alignment with the New Education Policy.
Furthermore, the “Ease of Doing Business Act, 2026” has been reinforced with the establishment of a dedicated EoDB Secretariat. This system aims to simplify approvals for new industries, with investors getting a “Letter of Establishment” based on self-declaration, thus reducing procedural delays. The education sector sees reforms through the “MP Private Coaching Institutes (Registration and Regulation) Bill, 2026,” which mandates institute registration, prohibits enrollment below Class 11, and ensures fee refunds for dropouts within ten days.
Labor reforms are introduced via the “MP Labour Code, 2026,” consolidating six outdated laws into a unified code in line with central legislation. This code allows 24/7 operations in certain establishments and eliminates mandatory inspector verification for new setups, fostering flexibility and efficiency. The approval of various other bills, including those related to highways, health, and repeals, reflects the government’s commitment to modernize governance and create opportunities across sectors.
The upcoming monsoon session is anticipated to be highly impactful, positioning Madhya Pradesh at the forefront of legislative innovation.
