Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted the state’s commitment to safeguarding wildlife and enhancing biodiversity. Speaking at the International Big Cat Alliance event in Bhopal, he praised the successful reintroduction of cheetahs at Kuno National Park. Yadav credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav for Madhya Pradesh’s status as a cheetah state, showcasing the state’s dedication to wildlife restoration.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the reestablishment of eight wild buffaloes after a century, contributing to biodiversity enrichment at Kanha National Park. Additionally, efforts are underway to conserve rare species like turtles, gharials, and vultures. Madhya Pradesh aims to introduce king cobras and rhinos in suitable habitats, with wildlife rescue centers near national parks for prompt treatment of injured animals.
At the event, 20 motorcycles and a rescue truck were dispatched to bolster wildlife rescue operations. Short films on biodiversity and wildlife conservation in Madhya Pradesh were screened, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural habitats. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav stressed the significance of biodiversity for sustenance, medicine, and livelihood, urging environmental protection. He commended Madhya Pradesh’s initiatives in wildlife conservation and environmental safeguarding.
