Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized the importance of public participation in formulating the state’s proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) policy. Yadav, during a video conference with district collectors, highlighted the need for broad engagement to ensure an effective and inclusive legal framework. He instructed officials to enhance outreach efforts in both urban and rural areas, urging citizens from all segments of society to contribute to the consultation process.
The Chief Minister stressed that the UCC policy would be shaped based on inputs from the public. He underlined that meaningful citizen involvement was crucial for the development of sound policies. District administrations were directed to conduct awareness campaigns across all districts, ensuring that discussions on the proposed code reached various segments of society, including villages, educational institutions, social organizations, and professional bodies.
Yadav further instructed government employees and grassroots functionaries to actively participate in awareness activities related to the UCC. He also suggested organizing special Gram Sabha meetings to facilitate discussions on the issue. The state government has been expediting consultations on the proposed UCC, with a high-level committee examining legal, social, and administrative aspects to recommend a suitable framework. Public opinion is being gathered through interactions with stakeholders and a dedicated online portal.
