Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav transferred Rs 1,836 crore to over 1.25 crore women beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana. The transfer took place at the ‘Ladli Behna Sammelan’ event held at the Shabari Mata Temple in Gwalior. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, a BJP Lok Sabha MP, was also present at the event.
The Ladli Behna Yojana, initiated by the BJP government in June 2023, provides cash benefits to women aged 23 to 60 years. The scheme began with Rs 1,000 per month and has since increased to Rs 1,500 per month. Chief Minister Yadav announced plans to raise the monthly amount to Rs 3,000 by 2028.
The state government has so far disbursed over Rs 55,976 crore under the scheme. During the event, Chief Minister Yadav engaged with beneficiaries to understand how they utilize the monthly assistance. The government aims to empower women further by offering skill development and employment opportunities.
Chief Minister Yadav also inaugurated 54 development projects in Gwalior district, including the Sandipani School building and a high-level bridge over the Sank river. Other projects involve the establishment of a Sub-Health Centre and the construction of new roads in urban and rural areas.
