Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has urged Rahul Gandhi to step down as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha following his contentious statement. Yadav criticized Gandhi’s recent accusation against Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah, labeling them as “traitors” who aimed to “sell India.” He described Gandhi’s language as “unfortunate” and disrespectful to democracy.
Yadav emphasized the significance of the Leader of the Opposition role in maintaining democracy alongside the Leader of the House. He stressed that while political statements are acceptable, the nature of Gandhi’s remarks warrants immediate resignation and action from the Congress party. According to Yadav, such language does not align with democratic principles.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also condemned Gandhi’s comments, stating that both Gandhi and the Congress party have lost favor with the public. Gupta criticized Gandhi for his alleged frustration over electoral defeats, mocking his display of the Indian Constitution. She highlighted Gandhi’s remarks as reflective of his “poor mindset” and upbringing, questioning his credibility as a political leader.
Gupta further pointed out historical betrayals by politicians and families, insinuating Congress’s involvement in past scandals. She predicted continued electoral setbacks for the Congress party, emphasizing that public scrutiny will persist in future elections. Gupta warned that the electorate will hold Congress accountable for their actions in upcoming polls.
