Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has decided to reduce the number of vehicles in his convoy and eliminate vehicle rallies during his tours, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for austerity. Yadav urged his Cabinet ministers, BJP leaders, and party workers to do the same, emphasizing the importance of cutting down on petrol and diesel consumption for the nation’s benefit. He stressed the need for simplicity, with newly appointed officials instructed to assume their roles in a modest manner.
Yadav’s move comes after criticism arose when a newly appointed Textbook Corporation Chairman arrived with a convoy of over 200 vehicles, contradicting the message of restraint in fuel use advocated by PM Modi and the Chief Minister. The directive now requires ministers and party members to reduce convoy sizes and adopt more straightforward travel practices, in line with the government’s focus on conservation and efficiency.
During a recent Cabinet meeting, Yadav highlighted PM Modi’s suggestions for farmers to switch to solar pumps, embrace natural farming, and use railway goods train services for freight transportation in light of global uncertainties. He also encouraged citizens to opt for public transport, electric vehicles, domestic tourism, and to limit certain expenditures like gold purchases and edible oil consumption for the national interest.
