Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the first operational arm of the state’s initial double-layer flyover at Lavkush Square in Indore. This flyover, constructed by the Indore Development Authority for Rs 175 crore, aims to enhance traffic flow on the busy Indore-Ujjain route. It is expected to alleviate congestion, reduce travel time, and enhance connectivity, especially with the upcoming Simhastha 2028 congregation in Ujjain.
With the opening of the first arm, traffic from Aurobindo Hospital towards Banganga can now utilize the elevated corridor. The second arm of the flyover is nearing completion and will be accessible soon. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted Indore’s leading role in the state’s development during the inaugural function. He emphasized the government’s commitment to modern urban infrastructure through projects like this flyover.
Yadav expressed that the flyover will be instrumental in managing the escalating traffic on the Indore-Ujjain route, particularly during Simhastha 2028, offering long-term benefits to commuters. The project is designed with a three-level traffic system, where the ground level caters to local traffic, the second level integrates the existing flyover and Metro rail corridor, and the newly constructed third level features the double-layer flyover.
Officials shared that the flyover, spanning approximately 1,450 meters, incorporates two steel bow-string girders weighing 400 tonnes each. Positioned at a height of 22 meters, the structure utilizes nearly 800 tonnes of steel, marking a significant engineering feat for Madhya Pradesh.
