Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has reiterated his government’s dedication to the farming community. He emphasized that farmer welfare would continue to be a top priority in the state’s development plans. Recent initiatives, such as extending the deadline for agricultural loan repayments and increasing compensation for land acquired for development projects, were highlighted.
Yadav’s assurance followed a meeting with a delegation from the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) in Bhopal. The discussions focused on alleviating financial burdens on farmers and enhancing their economic security. The Chief Minister stated, “The Year of Farmers’ Welfare is not just a slogan but a firm commitment of our government.”
Representatives from the BKS presented recommendations during the meeting, including suggestions on moong and urad procurement, streamlining registration processes for farmers, and improving irrigation infrastructure by better utilizing canals and ponds. Chief Minister Yadav expressed the government’s openness to inputs from farmer organizations and its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to tackle agricultural challenges.
Efforts are concentrated on ensuring efficient delivery of government schemes to farmers and maintaining agriculture as a viable and sustainable livelihood for future generations, according to CM Yadav. The interaction also highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s significant role in foodgrain procurement, with the state leading in farmer participation during wheat procurement and ranking second in total procurement volume after Punjab.
Farmers in Madhya Pradesh received Rs 2,625 per quintal for wheat, including a bonus of Rs 40 above the minimum support price. Payments totaling over Rs 27,196 crore have already been disbursed to farmers.
