Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to visit Bageshwar Dham on Friday to take part in a mass marriage event for over 300 couples from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Chhatarpur district. The ceremony, initiated on Thursday, is orchestrated by spiritual leader Dhirendra Krishna Shastri and will culminate on February 15, coinciding with Mahashivratri.
Shastri revealed that the Bageshwar Dham trust received 1,500 applications from 13 states this year. Following a month-long verification process by a 600-member team from 60 districts, 300 couples, including one from Nepal, were chosen. The weddings will be officiated by saints, mahants, and spiritual figures from around the nation, with each couple receiving a fixed deposit of Rs 30,000, along with gold and silver ornaments and household items.
Post the Bageshwar Dham ceremony, the Chief Minister will participate in the ‘Nohleshwar Mahotsav’ at the historic Nohleshwar temple complex in Damoh district. The Nohleshwar Temple, situated in Nohata, showcases Kalachuri-period architecture believed to date back to the 10th–11th centuries. Renowned for its carved pillars and stone craftsmanship, the temple holds cultural and architectural significance, being recognized as a prominent Shiva temple in Central India.
Various cultural and religious events, including women’s conferences, farmers’ seminars, and tourism-related programs, will be conducted during the festival to highlight the region’s rich heritage.
