Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to transfer Rs 1,835.67 crore to over 1.25 crore women beneficiaries through the Ladli Behna Yojana program in Narsinghpur on May 13. The Ladli Behna Yojana, a significant welfare initiative in Madhya Pradesh, focuses on enhancing the economic empowerment, self-reliance, and dignity of women in the state.
Launched in June 2023, the scheme has successfully completed 35 monthly installments until April 2026. A total of Rs 55,926.51 crore has been directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism between June 2023 and April 2026, as per government records.
Initially providing Rs 1,000 per month to eligible women, the scheme increased the amount to Rs 1,250 in October 2023 and further raised it to Rs 1,500 per month starting from November 2025. Additionally, women receiving lower amounts from other social security pension schemes are offered supplementary aid to ensure a guaranteed payout.
The state government disclosed that significant funds have been allocated under the Ladli Behna Yojana over the years, with Rs 14,726.05 crore spent in 2023-24, Rs 19,051.39 crore in 2024-25, and Rs 20,318.53 crore in 2025-26. For the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27, an allocation of Rs 23,882.81 crore has been earmarked for the scheme.
The Ladli Behna Yojana has not only facilitated women in managing household expenses but has also contributed to enhancing children’s nutrition, education, and healthcare. Many beneficiaries have leveraged the scheme to join Self-Help Groups, initiate small businesses, and engage in self-employment endeavors. The implementation of direct fund transfers has not only promoted financial inclusion but has also enhanced banking awareness among various segments of women, including widows, divorced individuals, and abandoned women.
