Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, alleging a surge in crime, corruption, and political interference leading the state towards chaos. Patwari, speaking in Satna, highlighted a National Crime Records Bureau report showing a significant portion of national crimes originating from Madhya Pradesh. The state, according to him, ranks high in crimes against various demographics including women, children, and marginalized communities.
Patwari further claimed that BJP officials and associates were exerting undue influence on government officials, fostering an environment of lawlessness. Citing an incident involving BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi, he accused ruling party members of intimidating officers, which he believes undermines law and order. The Congress leader drew parallels with states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, expressing concerns over rising criminal activities and a perceived lack of government action.
Accusing the BJP government of institutionalizing corruption, Patwari stated that bribery had become commonplace in public offices. He challenged officials in Satna and Rewa divisions to identify corruption-free offices, promising public recognition for such integrity. Emphasizing the Congress’s commitment to democratic values and accountability, Patwari reiterated the party’s role in addressing public grievances and highlighting governmental shortcomings.
