The Madhya Pradesh Congress Legislature Party (CLP) is set to convene on July 19 in Bhopal to plan its approach for the upcoming Monsoon Session of the state Assembly. The meeting, scheduled at the residence of Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, aims to address the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill and various public concerns expected to be at the forefront of the Opposition’s agenda.
Party MLAs will engage in discussions to outline key public issues to be raised in the Assembly and develop a unified strategy to counter the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government during the session. Topics likely to be deliberated upon include an alleged land scam involving Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, agrarian distress, unemployment, recruitment exams, the need for an annual government job calendar, rights of tribals and Dalits, crimes against women, education, healthcare, and reported corruption in the state.
The significance of this meeting is heightened as the BJP government is anticipated to introduce the draft Uniform Civil Code Bill in the Assembly post its approval by the Cabinet on July 18. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar affirmed that the Congress Legislature Party will vociferously advocate for the public’s concerns in the Assembly, emphasizing the need for accountability on issues such as unemployment, corruption, women’s safety, infrastructure projects, and the rights of marginalized communities.
Singhar further stated that the Congress aims to hold the government accountable for matters impacting various segments of society. The upcoming Assembly session is viewed as an opportunity to address public interest issues effectively and demand government responses. With thorough preparation and unity, the Congress Legislature Party intends to articulate the expectations of the people in the Assembly, compelling the government to address concerns affecting all sections of society.
The Monsoon Session is anticipated to witness intense debates surrounding the proposed UCC Bill, which the BJP government considers a significant legislative move. Alongside this legislation, the Congress is poised to challenge the state government on issues concerning farmers, unemployment, recruitment, law and order, and alleged corruption, setting the stage for a politically charged Assembly session.
