Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the eradication of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) from the state, crediting the security forces for their sacrifices and bravery. The declaration was made during an event in Balaghat where 60 Hawk Force personnel were given out-of-turn promotions for their valor in encounters with Maoists. Balaghat, previously a highly Maoist-affected district, is now peaceful according to Chief Minister Yadav.

Chief Minister Yadav proudly stated that Madhya Pradesh is now free of Maoists, emphasizing the transformation of the once violence-stricken Balaghat district into a peaceful region. He also mentioned plans for a Cabinet meeting in Balaghat soon. The state had been declared Maoist-free by Chief Minister Yadav on December 11, 2025, aligning with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s deadline to eliminate Naxalism, including in Madhya Pradesh, by March 31, 2026.

During his visit to Balaghat, Chief Minister Yadav launched a video showcasing police initiatives and honored the security forces with a Martyrs’ Memorial. He awarded out-of-turn promotions to 60 Hawk Force personnel and inaugurated development projects worth Rs 100.90 crore in the district. Additionally, job letters were provided to families of civilians who lost their lives in Maoist incidents, and tribal teams and CRPF personnel were also recognized for their contributions.
