Madhya Pradesh’s Tourism Department announced that the state is gaining prominence as a top global filming location. A Spanish production company recently wrapped up shooting for an international TV series, “Rural Tourism of the World,” in various parts of Madhya Pradesh. The series, by Spain’s Colours Communication Group, will exhibit the state’s rural life, tribal culture, traditions, and tourist spots to over 80 countries.
The Spanish film crew visited Chhindwara district to film villages like Sawarwani, Dhusawani, Chimtipur, and Tamia. They captured the natural beauty of the region, tribal community lifestyles, and the picturesque landscapes of Patalkot. The filming also included traditional tribal wedding rituals and local customs.
An official from the Tourism Department highlighted that this project showcases Madhya Pradesh’s appeal to filmmakers due to its rich culture, natural beauty, heritage sites, and support for film productions. The initiative stemmed from agreements made during the ‘FITUR Madrid 2026’ tourism fair in Spain earlier this year, aiming to position the state as a preferred destination for international film and documentary projects.
The series not only focuses on rural and tribal culture but also features renowned tourist spots in the state, such as Sanchi Stupa, Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, Satpura National Park, and Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board facilitated permissions, logistical support, security, and on-ground coordination for the project.
Madhya Pradesh has increasingly become a favored filming location for Bollywood movies, web series, and global documentaries. The project is anticipated to enhance rural tourism, local employment, homestays, and handicrafts in the state. Filming in Chhindwara received support from the district administration and local communities.
