Chief Minister Mohan Yadav-led Madhya Pradesh government has named Kshitij Singhal, a 2014 batch IAS officer, as the new Commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation. The appointment notification was issued by State Chief Secretary Anurag Jain. Singhal takes over from Dilip Kumar Yadav, who was transferred from Indore recently.
The decision to appoint Singhal came after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered the suspension of Indore Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisoniya and Sanjeev Shrivastava, the Superintendent Engineer In-charge of the Public Health Engineering department. The move aims to address the recent water quality issues in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area, where contaminated water led to fatalities and numerous hospitalizations.
In response to the water crisis, the Indore district administration initiated a water quality survey in Bhagirathpura. Teams are not only assessing water quality but also educating residents on the importance of safe drinking water. District Collector Shivam Verma is leading the awareness campaign and inspection efforts, ensuring the well-being of the affected population, particularly vulnerable groups like children and seniors.
Multiple teams are conducting door-to-door inspections in Bhagirathpura to monitor and address reported cases of food poisoning. The administration is also inspecting water storage facilities in the area to prevent further contamination. District Collector Verma emphasized the thoroughness of the investigations and the ongoing efforts to ensure the health and safety of the community.
