The state aims to promote organ donation to bring hope to many individuals in need.
During the meeting, it was decided to expand financial coverage under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, particularly for procedures like kidney, heart, and lung transplants. The government is also exploring support options through the Chief Minister’s Care Fund to ensure treatment affordability. AIIMS Bhopal’s successful organ transplant procedures reflect advancements in healthcare capacity and coordination.
Efforts are underway to strengthen the organ retrieval process by identifying brain-dead donors promptly, improving consent mechanisms, and ensuring timely organ transfers. Discussions also included the use of advanced technologies like robotic-assisted surgeries to enhance precision and patient outcomes. The delegation proposed a digital platform to integrate medical institutions for efficient organ allocation and coordination during transplants.
Recognizing the importance of honoring organ donors, the government plans to felicitate donor families on national occasions. Various awareness campaigns and programs are being conducted to encourage more individuals to participate in organ donation, aiming to make it a widespread movement.
