The Madhya Pradesh government has made changes in the positions of three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. Rakesh Sagar, a 2010-batch IPS officer, has been moved from Deputy Inspector General of the 2nd Battalion, Special Armed Force in Gwalior to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal. Ashutosh Bagri, a 2015-batch officer, will now serve as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Burhanpur after being transferred from Commandant of the 17th Battalion Special Armed Force (SAF) in Bhind. Vidita Dagar, a 2021-batch officer, has been reassigned from Additional Superintendent of Police in Gwalior to Commandant of the 2nd Battalion SAF in Gwalior.
This reshuffle follows a recent transfer of 62 IPS officers by the Home Department. The changes aim to enhance law enforcement and administrative efficiency in critical areas. The appointment of Ashutosh Bagri as Burhanpur SP is significant due to recent law and order challenges in the district. Similarly, Vidita Dagar’s posting as Commandant in Gwalior underscores the government’s strategy of placing young officers in key roles within the Special Armed Force.
By relocating Rakesh Sagar to the Police Headquarters, the government ensures experienced officers oversee crucial operations at the state level. The frequent rotations of IPS officers in Madhya Pradesh seek to balance seasoned expertise with fresh perspectives in the force. These transfers not only inject new energy into local policing but also demonstrate the government’s proactive approach to emerging law and order issues. The leadership appears focused on strengthening the police force to tackle administrative and security challenges across districts.
