The Madhya Pradesh government has approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court to revoke the interim bail granted to Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of retired judge Twisha Sharma, who is the alleged victim of a dowry death. This move comes amidst escalating legal proceedings in the high-profile case, drawing significant public interest and calls for a fair investigation.
Represented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Madhya Pradesh Advocate General Prashant Singh, the state government highlighted the accused’s alleged lack of cooperation despite the conditional interim bail given by a Bhopal court. The government emphasized concerns about potential tampering with evidence and requested the cancellation of Giribala Singh’s anticipatory bail.
Following the submissions, the High Court instructed the state government to ensure the hand-delivered service of notices to the relevant parties and scheduled a hearing for Monday. Additionally, the court addressed a separate plea filed by Twisha Sharma’s family challenging Giribala Singh’s interim bail, consolidating both petitions due to their shared legal issues.
In a significant development, the High Court issued directives for a second post-mortem examination of Twisha Sharma’s body, currently preserved at AIIMS Bhopal. The court mandated the Director of AIIMS Delhi to assemble a team of doctors for the fresh autopsy, with the state government tasked to provide necessary logistical support promptly.
