The Madhya Pradesh government has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation into the death of Twisha Sharma. The state Home Department officially communicated this decision to the Centre, citing the need for a thorough probe.
Twisha Sharma passed away in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12, leading to the registration of a criminal case at Katara Hills police station under specific sections of the law. The government disclosed that the case involves charges related to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
In response to mounting demands for a transparent inquiry, the state government has consented to extending the CBI’s jurisdiction in Madhya Pradesh for this investigation. This move aims to ensure an impartial and comprehensive examination of the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s demise.
Twisha’s family had met Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, urging for a fair investigation by the CBI, following which the government decided to transfer the case. The decision to involve the CBI is viewed as a significant measure towards facilitating a just and transparent scrutiny of the incident.
The Central Bureau of Investigation is expected to formally assume control of the case once all necessary procedures are completed and relevant documents are handed over by the Madhya Pradesh Police.
