Madhya Pradesh is embarking on a significant initiative by declaring “2026” as the ‘Agriculture Year’ to enhance the farming community. The state is gearing up for a grand rally and mega program at ‘Jumboori Maidan, BHEL’, Bhopal on Sunday. The theme, ‘Prosperous Farmers – Prosperous State’, aims to revolutionize agriculture, making it more profitable, sustainable, and technology-driven while promoting youth employment and rural self-reliance.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, a driving force behind this vision, stressed the pivotal role of agriculture in uplifting the poor and farming families. He highlighted the potential of agriculture-related activities in creating job opportunities and fostering self-reliance among the youth. Dr. Yadav emphasized the everlasting presence of farming and farmers on earth during a recent gathering.
The state’s diverse geography provides ample opportunities for agricultural innovation, according to the Chief Minister. The government is dedicated to enhancing farmers’ income significantly by intensifying efforts. The core objective of Agriculture Year 2026 is to transform the sector into a profitable, sustainable, and employment-generating model, surpassing the previous goal of doubling farmers’ income.
A detailed monthly calendar has been prepared for the year-long celebrations, featuring festivals, fairs, and events at various levels with active participation from farmers, NGOs, and progressive agriculturists. The focus will be on natural farming, better market prices for organic produce, modernization of markets, soil conservation, horticulture expansion, and livestock development. District-based cluster development will integrate agriculture with allied sectors like animal husbandry, fisheries, and forestry.
