The Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department has announced that all postgraduate students must undertake value-added courses starting from the second semester, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These courses, each carrying two credit points, include subjects like constitutional, human, and moral values, environmental education, and sustainability. The department has introduced a variety of value-added courses under different subject groups to support the implementation of the new curriculum.
To enhance students’ skills and knowledge, the courses cover areas such as employment and entrepreneurship skills, stress management through yoga, environmental psychology, research writing, artificial intelligence, business ethics, analytics, and innovation. The aim is to equip students with practical skills, moral values, innovation capabilities, and employability skills, making postgraduate education more relevant and comprehensive. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical skills, aligning education with the evolving demands of the job market.
Universities and colleges in Madhya Pradesh have been instructed to assist students in selecting value-added courses based on their academic requirements and subject relevance. This step is part of the state’s efforts to implement NEP 2020, emphasizing multidisciplinary learning, flexibility in higher education, and the development of skills alongside traditional academic education.
