The Madhya Pradesh government has removed the Animal Husbandry and Dairy portfolio from Minister of State (Independent Charge) Lakhan Patel, as per an official notification. This decision leaves him solely in charge of the Anand Department. The notification, issued by the General Administration Department, mentioned that this change was approved by the Governor through an amendment to the order issued on December 30, 2023.
Lakhan Patel, a BJP MLA from Patharia Assembly constituency, was previously overseeing both the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department and the Anand Department. With the recent revision, he will now only handle the Anand Department, which focuses on promoting happiness and well-being initiatives in the state. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will retain several key departments, including General Administration, Home, Jail, and others that have not been assigned to other ministers.
The reshuffling of ministerial portfolios in Madhya Pradesh is seen as a significant development, hinting at a possible Cabinet reshuffle in the BJP government. State BJP President Hemant Khandelwal recently indicated that performance reports of ministers had been forwarded to the party’s central leadership for review, suggesting that changes may be on the horizon.
