The Madhya Pradesh government has initiated an investigation into suspected financial misconduct and unauthorized collection of donations from devotees at the famous Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda. Following complaints, a three-member inquiry committee, led by V.S. Chaubey, has been formed to look into the alleged discrepancies. It is reported that a parallel system was collecting cash, gold, silver, and other valuables from devotees and depositing them into private bank accounts.
The committee, which includes officials like Manish Chaubey and Mini Agrawal, has been tasked with examining the temple premises, scrutinizing records and bank accounts, verifying donations, and determining if a separate donation collection system was in operation. Additionally, the inquiry will investigate the involvement of government officials, temple management, or any other individuals in the alleged irregularities. A detailed report is expected within seven days.
The issue has sparked a political debate, with the Opposition Congress raising concerns over the alleged financial discrepancies. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar has called for a transparent investigation and urged the BJP government to ensure accountability and take strict action against those responsible. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh’s Minister for Religious Trusts and Endowments, Dharmendra Lodhi, clarified that the irregularities were carried out by individuals outside the temple management committee.
Situated in Agar-Malwa district, the Maa Baglamukhi Temple is a significant religious site dedicated to Goddess Baglamukhi. Every year, thousands of devotees from all over the country visit the temple, especially during Navratri and other religious festivals. The ongoing inquiry is crucial for maintaining transparency and public trust in the management of devotees’ contributions.
