Madhya Pradesh has revealed a bold initiative to nearly double the size of the Mukundpur White Tiger Safari in Rewa district within the next two decades. The state government aims to elevate it into a top-tier wildlife conservation, breeding, and eco-tourism center. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasized the significance of this expansion, highlighting its potential to enhance wildlife conservation, biodiversity, research, and public awareness in the region.
The master plan outlines the expansion of the safari from its current 121.99 hectares to 241.86 hectares by incorporating an additional 119.87 hectares. The proposed expansion includes the development of modern animal enclosures, conservation breeding centers, wildlife rescue facilities, top-notch visitor amenities, and an educational center to promote wildlife and nature conservation awareness. Shukla emphasized the importance of adhering to Central Zoo Authority (CZA) guidelines in implementing the project, focusing on animal welfare, sustainable habitat design, environmental considerations, and effective visitor management.
The Mukundpur White Tiger Safari holds a special place in India’s wildlife conservation efforts, specifically dedicated to preserving the rare white tiger lineage originating from the former Rewa princely state. Established in 2016, it stands as India’s inaugural White Tiger Safari, playing a pivotal role in conservation breeding, wildlife education, and public awareness. The project is expected not only to enhance scientific wildlife management but also to elevate the overall visitor experience, promote eco-tourism, and create employment opportunities in the Vindhya region.
