With expectations of over 40 crore devotees visiting Ujjain for the Simhastha Mahaparv-2028, the Madhya Pradesh government is diligently working to ensure top-notch arrangements. Development projects exceeding Rs 25,000 crore are underway in various districts as part of the preparations. This includes crucial initiatives like the Kanh Closed Duct Diversion costing Rs 919 crore to maintain river cleanliness and new ghats worth Rs 120 crore for devotees’ convenience.
Union Minister Manohar Lal, overseeing a review meeting in Ujjain, has instructed officials to prioritize tasks related to sanitation, water supply, food, security, transportation, and healthcare. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, present at the meeting, has pledged full commitment to making Simhastha-2028 a remarkable and memorable event. He emphasized the provision of clean water for devotees during the holy dip and highlighted projects ensuring the purity of the Shipra River.
To enhance connectivity, significant road projects are in progress, such as the Ujjain-Indore six-lane highway, Indore-Ujjain greenfield four-lane corridor, and Ujjain-Jaora four-lane road. The state is also constructing numerous bridges and a vast parking infrastructure spanning 3,000 hectares across 30 sectors. Moreover, the Ujjain City Water Augmentation Scheme includes a water treatment plant, pipeline network, overhead tanks, and new water connections to meet the city’s needs.
In a push for cleanliness under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Union Minister Manohar Lal emphasized efficient waste management, recycling, and public awareness campaigns. The state’s focus on delivering a grand spiritual experience while advancing urban and regional development is evident through these coordinated efforts.
