Madhya Pradesh plans to provide digital health services to all citizens, even in remote areas, through the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), as stated by Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla. The state aims to establish an integrated digital health system for faster and transparent healthcare delivery. The mission includes issuing unique digital health identities to citizens for secure access to their health records.
Shukla emphasized the importance of registering government and private health institutions, healthcare professionals, and the necessity of training and technical support for promoting digital services. The goal is to leverage technology to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and transparency of healthcare services, especially for those in remote regions.
CEO of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, Arvind Kumar Shah, reported that Madhya Pradesh has generated around 5.86 crore ABHA IDs. Additionally, over 20,000 health institutions are registered under the Health Facility Registry (HFR), and nearly 18,000 healthcare professionals have joined the Health Professional Registry (HPR). These registries aim to create a verified digital database of licensed healthcare professionals and facilities to integrate them into digital health services.
The state has introduced the ‘Scan and Share’ feature in 533 health institutions, facilitating the generation of digital OPD tokens to reduce patient waiting times. Through the ABHA app, patients can scan a hospital’s QR code, share their details, and receive a digital OPD token. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is expected to enhance healthcare quality, continuity of care, and administrative transparency, with efforts to onboard all eligible institutions and healthcare professionals into the digital health ecosystem.
