In a significant move to bolster Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy sector, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to inaugurate two large solar parks with a combined capacity of 950 MW on Monday. The Neemuch Solar Park, with a capacity of 500 MW, and the Shajapur Solar Park, with 450 MW, mark a significant milestone in the state’s transition to clean energy. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi and state Minister for New and Renewable Energy Rakesh Shukla will also be present at the event.
The inauguration will also witness the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the Murana Solar Plus Storage Project, a 440 MW project that boasts one of the most competitive tariffs in the country at Rs 2.70 per unit. Furthermore, various industrial units and development projects worth Rs 1,553.98 crore will be initiated during the program. Additional Chief Secretary for New and Renewable Energy Manu Srivastava emphasized the achievement of competitive tariffs in these projects.
The Neemuch Solar Park has secured units at rates as low as Rs 2.14 to Rs 2.15 per unit, while the Shajapur Solar Park units range between Rs 2.33 and Rs 2.35 per unit, making them highly cost-effective for consumers. Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation Amit Tomar mentioned that the Chief Minister and the Union Minister will jointly lay the foundation stones and inaugurate multiple projects aimed at boosting industrial growth and energy self-sufficiency in the state.
The Agar Solar Park, currently under construction with a capacity of 550 MW, has also achieved competitive rates ranging from Rs 2.44 to Rs 2.45 per unit, further strengthening the state’s solar energy portfolio. These initiatives are expected to create significant job opportunities, attract investments, and play a crucial role in achieving Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy targets. The integration of large-scale solar capacity with battery storage will not only enhance grid stability but also promote clean power supply round the clock.
These developments underscore the state government’s commitment to sustainable development, green energy transition, and positioning Madhya Pradesh as a leading state in solar power generation. The twin solar parks and the innovative storage project are poised to revolutionize the state’s energy landscape.
